Near misses, 1919-1920
Spartan (SP-336, 1917-1919). This 105.9' tug was built at Baltimore in 1912 and was returned to her owner on 20 September 1919. (Photo: NH # 102228)
Charles Mann (SP-522, 1917-1920) at the Boston Navy Yard near USS Constitution. This 77' tug was built in 1903 at South Portland, Maine, and was ordered sold on 27 February 1920. (Photo: NH # 101975)
Sadie Ross (SP-736, 1917-1920). This 60.5' tug was built at East Boston, Mass., in 1904, ordered appraised for sale on 23 June 1920, and sold on 6 August 1920.

Winthrop (ID-3297, 1918-1921), off the U.S. Naval Coal Depot, Melville Station, R.I. This 80.8' tug was built in 1883 and rebuilt in 1917. Acquired on 18 October 1918, she was ordered sold on 30 October 1919. Alida (YT-102) also served at Melville. (Photo: NH # 102572)
