A heavily retouched version of this image was used to represent S.S. Iroquois, which became USS Solace (AH-5) in late 1940. Shawnee served as an Army transport in World War II.

She arrived at Pearl Harbor on 27 October 1941 and handled hundreds of casualties on 7 December 1941 during the Japanese attack there.
